  1. Congressman Barrett. Many, if not most, conservatives believe that the TARP vote was simply a waste of taxpayers money. Obviously, this is something that cannot happen with the current state of the economy. If you were presented with the information you have today, would you vote the same way? Why or why not?

  2. This question is for all the candidates. What single leadership trait do you have that makes you believe you are more qualified for the position than the others on the stage?

  3. . How would you ‘walk a mile’ in the shoes of the present Governor? Its easy to offer advice, what steps would you take to correct the deeds of the past? What path would you lead SC to stop the total politicisation of all aspects of our life?

  4. This question is for all of the candidates.

In 1895, a new State Constitution was enacted, with the primary intent being to maintain in perpetuity a weak executive and a legislative dictatorship.

Would you support a call for a Constitutional Convention for the purpose of drafting a new State Constitution?

    Why or why not?

  7. What are your views of the state and federal governments in the lives of the citizens of South Carolina? How will your administration interact with the federal government.

  8. The citizens of SC have a right to know when they request assistance from an elected official that they are writing to a responsible person that will not abuse the power of their office by attacking the citizen that has asked the elcted official to protect the senior citizens from scam artists. Please have each candidate agree or disagree that senior citizens shuold take precedence over an elected officlal taking bribes from insurance companies

  9. Would you support — and work to pass — the “Truth in Spending Act,” which would require local governments to post their expenditures on the Web. The Comptroller, Richard Eckstrom, and the 12 local governments that have already done so have proven it can be done simply and without much additional cost. Doesn’t this eliminate the excuses?

  10. Also, what other steps would you take to improve transparency in state government?

  11. Should the travel expenses of all State Government officials be made public?

  12. Mr. McMaster:
What makes you different from the other candidates?

  13. Question for Ms Haley- “Considering the current controversy over Gov. Sanford’s travel history, how can you convince the public you do not ‘remember’ whether you flew coach or business class on a trip to China just four years ago?”

  14. Will you uphold the rights of South Carolinians
to Bear Arms as stated in the Constitution of
    the United States.

  15. Lt. Governor Bauer, with all the attention on the
affairs of Gov. Sanford, and the conflicting information regarding your own sexuality, do you think you could effectively lead South Carolina back to lower unemployment and influence industry to locate in South Carolina? Or would you
as Gov. Bauer create more controversy for our
    embattled state?

  16. Question from Comptroller Richard Eckstrom:

With more than $600 million in federal stimulus money having made its way to state agencies, some say the stimulus promises remain unfufilled. (State and national unemployment rates have increased dramatically since the bill passed.) Do you believe the stimulus has helped or hindered our longterm economic outlook, and what, if anything, would you have done differently?

  17. According to the Chronicle of Higher Education, South Carolina made deeper budget cuts in higher education than any other state. My question to each of the gubenatorial candidates is why did this happen and what would each do to restore the lost funding?
